Basic labor law for management

As a manager you are frequently confronted with questions regarding labor law. In this seminar you will learn which labor law instruments and tools are available for you to use as well as how to take the correct legal action in difficult situations. You will learn the basics of general labor law while taking account of the collective wage regulations in TV-L for Berlin universities.

Content and learning outcomes:

  • Initiation and conclusion of the employment contract, e.g. posting, selection process,  General Act on Equal Treatment - AGG, types of contracts, fixed-term contracts at universities
  • Rights and obligations in current employment, e.g. working time, employer managerial authority, holiday leave, sick leave/disability, employment reference letters
  • Termination of employment, e.g. warning, dismissal

Methods and approaches: practical trainer input, discussion rounds, practical exercises

Target group: Management in academic and administrative units
