What makes my team tick? - managing group processes

Both desirable and undesirable dynamics frequently emerge in teams.
As a manager, it is your responsibility to coordinate the different expectations and attitudes of your employees, balance competition and harmony, and recognize and positively influence the team dynamic. To put it succinctly: Team building is one of the most important management responsibilities.
Typical team phenomena will be presented and discussed in the seminar. You will learn methods to positively steer team development.

Content and learning outcomes:

  • Basics of team management: Typical team dynamics, success factors for teamwork
  • What you need to know about teams: Hierarchies, collaboration, and confrontation in teams
  • Recognizing and using team resources
  • Team development as the responsibility of the manager Learning team phases and directing these appropriately
  • Recognizing different types of team members and how to best employ them: Bringing an effective balance to your team

Methods and approaches: Theoretical input, groupwork, mutual guidance, case-study and transfer

Target group: Management in academic and administrative units
