Funding for the study programme Master Science Management
Application deadline is extended until August 21, 2020 !!!
1. subject of the grant
The increasing level of competition within the science system and the ever-shifting general conditions within higher education have led to a growing need for the professionalization of administration and management in science.
TU Berlin wishes to provide qualified continuing education for its employees in this area. The extraoccupational continuing education program in Science Management begins WS 2020/21 and lasts 4 semesters. The four-semester, part-time continuing education program in Science Management with Science Management concentration is intended for mid-level staff (remuneration categories E6 to E9a), upper-middle-level staff (remuneration categories E/A9 to E12/A13), and upper-level staff, as well as academics. The program is equally suitable for staff seeking to acquire the skills and knowledge to work in the administration and management of academic activities and obtain the entry requirement qualification for upper-level positions, and upper-level staff seeking to acquire the skills and knowledge to work in leading positions within the Central University Administration or faculties/faculty administrations. However, completing the master's program does not qualify civil servants for the second entry post in category two of the general administrative service. Academics looking to develop their skills in the areas of administration and science management are similarly encouraged to apply for this program.
Costs for the program will be covered by TU Berlin from central funding for up to 10 members of staff.
2. Eligibility conditions
2.1 Admission
to studies
Admission to the programme is a prerequisite for funding
under the present call for proposals. Each prospective student must
apply independently for a place at the TUBS by 30.06.2020. Information
on how to apply for a study place and on the admission requirements
can be found on the website at
http://wissenschaftsmanagement.tubs.de/bewerbung/ [1]
The admission procedure is organised by TUBS GmbH - TU Berlin
ScienceMarketing, a 100% subsidiary of the TU Berlin, which is
responsible for the implementation and supervision of the programme.
The Executive Board has no influence on the admissions decision. An
application for funding in accordance with the present call for
applications will be made separately. Admission to the programme does
not automatically imply acceptance of funding according to point 3 of
this announcement.
2.2 Sending an application for funding
To apply for funding under this call for proposals,
applicants must submit a digital application consisting of
- Letter of motivation
- Qualified statement of the manager
- Curriculum vitae
- by 30 June 2020 to carola.joswig@tu-berlin.de .
3. type, scope
and amount of funding
The sponsorship includes the assumption of the tuition fees in the amount of the tuition fees as well as the semester fees with the exception of the fee for the semester ticket for the duration of the standard period of study of 4 semesters planned for the course of study. In exceptional cases, if the course of study is delayed, it is possible to take over the administrative fees for re-registration for a further semester. In justified cases, it is also possible to study part-time.
In connection with the sponsorship, students are also released from
their duties and continue to pay their salary or wages for the
attendance times required for their studies, which are allotted to
regular working days. On these days, working time is credited in the
amount of the individual planned working time of the respective day.
Attendance times which fall on other days (e.g. Saturdays), the study
of online teaching content and individual learning phases are to be
taken up by employees in their free time.
With this support, the
TU pursues the goal of enabling its employees to systematically
develop their human resources. Against this background, the funding is
subject to the proviso that the employee remains employed at the TU
Berlin for a further 3 years after completion of his or her studies.
Details for the case of premature departure from the TU are regulated
in a further education contract.
Employees with a fixed-term
employment contract that ends within the standard period of study can
continue the Master's program at their own expense after leaving the
TUB. The sponsorship does not entitle the student to an extension or
release of the employment contract.

The selection procedure
will be entrusted to a commission which, in addition to representing
the presidency, the administration and the faculties, will include a
representative of the Staff Council and the Central Women's
Representative, and which will draw up a list of proposed employees to
be funded. The decision is incumbent on the Presidium.
The
selection procedure is designed as a two-stage process. On the basis
of the written application documents, applicants will be invited to a
selection interview after a pre-selection if necessary.
